like a tattered rag, I shake it roundly
until unsatisfied, I drop the remains
and sit baldly, contemplating the heavy weave
until I might lift it to shake egain. Chewing consistantly
I have made no more progress on knowing answers
by seeking answers; perhaps I am on a better quest
for questions that might explain the unrest
of my tempered thoughts, which flip up and down
like a great switch, and when illuminated, seem
like a willful string untied.

Peanuts for Poets

There is scarcely any upon which there is cast confusion
of thought than that of fashion now-a-days to speak of thought, just as though accepted meaning
is perfectly true
aim at a transformation
existing evils
or to smooth the road to our goal till the days bring the worst

That is a very beautiful photograph of yourself on your profile. I like the way the light is shining on your face. It looks like you are being inspired by the Light of Heaven.

I just reread your poem "Cut the Anchor, Oh Lord"; I really love that poem (below).

"Be not too curious of Good and Evil;
Seek not to count the future waves of Time;
But be ye satisfied that you have light
Enough to take your step and find your foothold.
O Light Invisible, we praise Thee!
Too bright for mortal vision.

"O Greater Light, we praise Thee for the less;
The eastern light our spires touch at morning,
The light that slants upon our western doors at evening,
The twilight over stagnant pools at batflight,
Moon light and star light, owl and moth light,
Glow-worm glowlight on a grassblade.
O Light Invisible, we worship Thee!

"We thank Thee for the light that we have kindled,
The light of altar and of sanctuary;
Small lights of those who meditate at midnight
And lights directed through the coloured panes of windows
And light reflected from the polished stone,
The gilded carven wood, the coloured fresco.
Our gaze is submarine, our eyes look upward
And see the light that fractures through unquiet water.
We see the light but see not whence it comes.
O Light Invisible, we glorify Thee!"

--"Choruses from The Rock"
T.S. Eliot

I love this line: "And see the light that fractures through unquiet water."

Thank you, Tim! I'm working on compiling my second poetry book... lots of better stuff... I've missed your presence on my page! How are you travels?

"But be ye satisfied that you have light
Enough to take your step and find your foothold."

The mind is not made to understand... nothing can understand God... but unconditional love doesn't ask for understanding. :) Great poem! Thanks for sharing. I've read Eliot's "The Wasteland" but I think I'll understand it better now if I read it again....

God bless you! Happy New Year!
